Marvin Development Corporation builds homes the old fashioned way. Good. Since 1972 we have staked our reputations and livelihoods on building a quality home that will stand the test of time. A home for families to live, love and play in. And every year since our founding we have renewed our commitment to our customers and ourselves: we will provide the best built home that money can buy.

This is no idle boast. We can back our statements up with facts. Seven times in the past decade Richard F. Durling, Marvin Development's owner and president, has been named "Builder of the Year," the most recent being in 2002 when he was named "Florida Builder of the Year."

We are one of six builders in the state of Florida and less than 50 in the United States to have earned the prestigious Diamond Builder Award. We have a trophy case in our office packed with awards recognizing the superior quality of our work, the honesty and fair play of our organization, and our ability to satisfy our customers. Our scrapbooks are full of articles of praise from various news organizations.

In the past quarter of a century over 3000 families have made their homes in a house built by Marvin Development. Our goal for the next quarter of a century is to satisfy another 3000 families. We always fulfill our commitments.

 

Florida Builder of the Year
Over 15,000 builders in the state of Florida are eligible for the "Florida Builder of the Year" award. These are builders who have reached the pinnacle of their profession and have proven that they are among the best in the business. Richard F. Durling, the owner and contractor of Ft. Myers based Marvin Development Corporation, received this award in 2002.

 

Diamond Builder Award
The Diamond Builder Award is presented to homebuilders who continually demonstrate technical competence, financial security, and customer satisfaction. Home Buyers Warranty Corporation, the largest insurer of builder's warranties in the United States, presents the award. The advantage of building with a Diamond Builder is two fold. First, HBW, just like any insurance company, wants to write policies for sure things, companies they feel will not make a claim. Marvin Development is one of only four Diamond Builders in Florida and less than fifty in the United States. We are regarded very highly by this insurance company. Second, just offering an insured warranty is important. Many companies do not qualify for the rigorous background checks required to offer such a warranty.

 

Pinnacle Builder of the Year Awards
Pinnacle Awards are the building industry's equivalent of an Academy Award. Builder of the Year awards are presented annually to builders who have demonstrated the highest level of professionalism. Marvin Development has received four of these Pinnacle Awards. Especially gratifying to Marvin Development is that the award is presented by the building industry. In other words our peers and competitors have recognized us as one of the best in the business.

 

1993 Builder of the Year
In 1993 the American Subcontractor's Association named Marvin Development "Builder of the Year". This award is especially significant because the criteria for receipt of such an award are prompt payment practices and fair treatment of subcontractors. Not only does a Marvin Development customer receive the benefit of 30 plus years of experience, but also the knowledge that the house will be lien-free during construction.

 

Cape Coral Construction Industry Association Builders' Showcase Awards
The CCCIA Builders' Showcase recognizes local builders for their contributions to the Cape Coral area. In 2006 our Grand Seville model beat the competition and received the Best Overall Design along with Best Interior Design, Best Exterior Design, Best Pool Area, and Best Floor Plan.
