HOW WE BUILD
Southwest Florida’s Preferred Builder.

An Unmistakable Commitment to Excellence

Florida Housing Hall of Fame Inductee and owner of Marvin Homes, Richard F. Durling has accomplished what few builders have. He’s made it his goal to learn every facet of the construction industry, and uses that knowledge for the benefit of his clients. It’s not about quantity with Marvin Development Corporation, it’s about delivering a first-class home.

Richard chooses his construction materials carefully based on their strength, durability and effect on the environment. He is constantly striving for perfection by improving and refining construction techniques. Methods of construction are as important as materials. The Florida Builder of the Year award winner is a hands-on builder and is in the field and on jobsites daily.

Pathway to a Beautiful Home

From initial sales consultation to final closing our capable team of professionals provide the accessibility, helpfulness and advice one would expect from a Diamond Builder. Our streamlined process is straightforward and flexible.

Our award-winning design team spends the necessary time to get to know our clients. We concentrate our efforts by asking “why” a certain design feature is important so that we may present the best solution. Other meetings, including color selections, are arranged at a steady and unhurried pace.

We believe communication and transparency are key. We give our customers our cell number and encourage them to call. Local clients are free to meet us any time in the office or on the jobsite. International and out of state customers will receive periodic reports and progress pictures. After the home is complete our service doesn’t end. Our warranty is second to none. We furnish the best service possible before during and after the home is complete.

  • Elaine & I wanted to thank you and the Marvin family for building our LAST home. You helped make a stressful process “almost” enjoyable. Stan was perfect for us and he always made us feel like everything was OK. We feel fortunate that we got together for this project.

From the First Shovelful

Starting with an elaborate three-part foundation system and ending with the house keys in our owner’s hands, our construction techniques ensure our homes are built to stand the test of time. It’s a combination of the big and little things we do. Foundations that provide positive drainage away from the house and a wall system that is a safety feature normally found in a school or hospital are some of the structural items we use.

High efficiency air conditioning systems are installed in an above code manner to increase air filtration and circulation. Zero VOC paints and all wood cabinets help with indoor air quality. The little things we do are important as well. Icemaker lines with shut off under the kitchen sink to facilitate providing filtered water to both the sink and refrigerator. These are just a few of the things that distinguish a Marvin Home.

We Lead the Field of Green Home Builders

There are not many builders who are as committed to building energy efficient homes as Marvin Homes. With nearly a thousand homes certified as “Good Cents” or “Build Smart,” and a shelf full of awards, we remain committed to energy efficient construction.

Our common-sense approach to choosing energy savings components provides our owners with lower operating costs than a typical home. Most of the upgraded components we use will pay for themselves within five years.

Common components we use in our homes are “Low-e” glass, 16 SEER or higher AC units, foil backed rigid foam on exterior walls, minimum of R-30 ceiling insulation, passive attic ventilation, and programmable thermostats.
